Little late here, but better late than never. Cupcake Girls came to our club just before Xmas like they do on the regular, but this time instead of just handing out cupcakes and business cards they got to pestering us all to come on this site and post a review and say something nice. They were like super-pushy and it was way irritating.
So what you ladies want a friggin medal? You come to our place of work you know were there for the benjamins and most of us have to watch our weight so the cupcakes are a nice touch but nothing over-the-top special. Your resources come from the Clark County website you didnt even bother to put your own company name on them. How original! meh….

SALLY ANNE says:
This website ought to have a rating for “below zero” starts b/c thats all this ORG deserves !
They are a fraudulent racket established to rake in mad money all the while falsely claiming to “help” sex workers
I contacted this ORG when I was housing insecure and facing homelessness
Alls they did was give me “referrals” to public resources
I desperately needed clothing, emergency housing in the form of a safe place to stay and also Legal Representation for with an immigration matter
as part of the “intake” process, they required me to fill out a form , which they did NOT give me a copy of !
* the form demanded I disclose my full name, address and date of birth amongst other sensitive information.
I had to do this JUST in order to get “referrals” that are *publicly available* and can be accessed via google or by calling local social & human service agencies.
These worthless scamsters dont give you housing, they give you a google map to the homeless shelter ! they dont give food, just a phone # and directions to the food pantry !
They are running game on their donor base and fraudulently soliciting funds claiming to help sexworkers
in only ONE very high-profile case have they actually helped financially, and that was with a woman named Kamylla and then only b/c the sexworker community on social media agreed to send in donations. They hosted the fundraiser and are STILL soliciting money for this woman on various crowdfunding sites even though her case has been dismissed per statements made on social media
I went to their support group . They claim to serve cupcakes. They didnt even HAVE any cupcakes. They did have coffee though…
They dont provide emergency shelter, food clothing or anything. They claim they have a “grant” process but wont even tell you how to apply !
Every church in Las Vegas has disassociated themselves from this outfit b/c they lie about providing assistance when they actually just give ladies the runaround and tell them to apply for welfare
Dont waste your time with them. and dont give them a penny much less a dime
They are worse than pimps, they exploit sexworkers who come to them for help by using them as “posterchildren” for fundraising then turn around and fatten their own pockets laughing all the way to the bank – at the expense of the very women they purport to help:(
When I made my experiences with them known on social media, they threatened to post the intake form I filled out – containing sensitive personal identifying information of mine – on their website
STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND DONT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Every effort was made by our organization to meet the needs of this client with our available resources. We were unable to help in this situation, so we ended the client relationship amicably and following proper termination guidelines. This was met with harassment and threats. You can read more about the situation in a statement on our blog, posted November 30th, 2015: http://www.thecupcakegirls.org/#!In-Response-to-Violence-We-Stand-With-You/cmbz/565b892a0cf28780b9d8c034
SALLY ANNE says:
My name is Sally Anne, I am the “client” referenced in the immediately preceding post. While its not my intent to drag this issue out endlessly or engage in a with back & forth comments I would like to take this opportunity to state that I have never harassed or threatened this org nor any person affiliated with it. Police launched an investigation into anynomous emails and this org has had a lot of complaints from various women. There is always the possibility that someone from within sent the emails as an excuse to get law enforcement to come to my house & harass me in retaliation for comments I have made about them on social media
Ive reached out to many sexworker org’s for help and the vast majority were NOT able to assist with my unique need. No single other charity or person has made this type of allegation against me however.
I strongly believe that their comments about me are motivated by spite and resentment, though I cannot prove it. In the same way theyve no proof of any wrongdoing on *MY* part.
Anonymous says:
I would not recommend this particular organization, sorry. Like a hot air ballon, they appear “full” of promise, but will leave you feeling “pricked” (not in a good way either ! )
While they might very well provide cupcakes during monthly visits to strip clubs and brothels they dont provide those when meeting backpage girls escorts or masseuses or streetwalkers ( ie those not employed at establishments )
The “cupcakes” distribution is more about hype, they always pop flashy pix and have cameras rolling while doing “club outreach” but behind the scenes is a whole nother story !
Also : all “resources” are publicly available via the county / state social services and private human service organizations. In fact : thats where they get their list from ! They dont offer any “resources” you can’t find on google or some other search engine. In pre-internet days their presence mightve been useful, nowadays not so much
Lastly: if you are homeless, they will direct you only to a homeless shelter and not even provide transportation ! They give you name and address to shelters is all. They dont help with babysitting, they dont help with bus passes or taxi fare to get to the shelter if you have too much luggage. They dont help you get a pre-paid phone, much less food even. They give directions to a food bank ! This charity is a crock, they are making false claims to raise donations so they can laugh all the way to the bank. A sexworker will receive nothing from them she can’t find on google.com
My name is Becky Johnson and I am with The Cupcake Girls and part of our Las Vegas branch. I just wanted to take a moment to respond to the feedback here. We are never afraid of criticism and feedback, because without it, we can’t grow and improve our organization.
It’s true that we have no in-house resources for homelessness. We are a very small non-profit and operate with just 6 part-time employees and a small volunteer force across two cities. It is our hope and dream to one day be able to open (and staff) a safehouse for our clients who need it. We do, however, offer emergency housing assistance in cases of domestic violence and sex-trafficking, but we are limited in funds to just a few nights until arrangements can be made for a more permanent situation.
We do have a number of resources in house, and they include:
· Therapy
· Peer-to-peer support groups
· Medical
· Dental
· Financial advising
· Tutoring
· Resume writing
· Emergency grants
We are always gaining new services and connecting with new partners in our community to offer even more services. We also assist with applying for state-funded programs as needed and maintain emotional support for each and every client. Currently, we have 129 clients who are receiving services and support from us in both cities, and even in other states.
As for cupcakes, we only have access to a commercial kitchen once a month for baking cupcakes for our club and brothel visits. In order to be compliant with health codes, we cannot keep or serve cupcakes in our office at all times.
For safety, security, and liability reasons, we never allow any of our staff or volunteers to drive clients to appointments or for services.
We hope this addresses any concerns and we look forward to continuing to support the sex work and adult entertainment communities for many years to come.
N says:
So you have 6 actual PAID employees. Do you recognize how few sex worker rights and support organizations that are run BY and FOR sex workers are completely unable to afford the luxury of actually having paid employees? I’d strongly suggest taking a moment to reflect on the immense amount of privilege this organization and its employees have and consider redirecting those funds away from cupcakes and towards actual support services and the hands of actual sex workers, particular trans, PoC sex workers, who face the greatest barriers and are least likely to be found in photo-op ready indoor spaces.
Further, why soak up the funding that you do rather than use your time and efforts to support already existing sex worker supporting and led organizations in furthering their reach and the supports that they are able to offer? It’s the job of allies to step back and make space, to stand beside and help provide additional resources and capacity, not to suck up resources and capacity to further their own goals.
aformersexworker ( User Karma: 9 ) says:
Cupcake Girls are my idea of the gold standard in sex work organisations, and that shows in every word they say. Hard to put into words how that works, but with sex work orgs you have to brace yourself for the small simple words, the condescension…with the Cupcake Girls that never comes.
We are not children of a lesser God to be guided to them, we are sister equals to be offered comfort if we need it.

Vanessa G says:
I find the immediately preceding review – by user handle “a former sexworker” very suspect. Clicking on her avatar reveals that this is Gaye Dalton. According to her public social media profiles she is a retired sexworker living in Ireland who has never personally come into contact with the Cupcake Girls herself. She states in her review her connection to them is via “another sexworker”. Gaye Dalton is well known to be tight with “Kamylla” whose fundraiser this spring was widely regarded to be the “flagship effort” of the Cupcake Girls organization. It is no secret that the Cupcakes attached themselves to the Kamylla case due to the enourmous amount of publicity surrounding the 8minutes TV series & Kamyllas resulting campaign against the show.
The fact that the Cupcake Girls have never before – or since – Kamylla helped any woman get a lawyer shows that this is not typical of the way they operate. Cupcake Girls basically piggy-backed onto a very high-profile, well-publicized case that was making headlines in the media and was the subject of much activity on social media as well. Cupcakes benefited themselves from the resulting publicity and their affiliation to Kamylla helped “cement” their status with the sexworker community.
The thing thats awful strange and calls for close scrutiny is the fact that they had to look as far as Houston, TX to find a sexworker in need. Cupcake Girls is based in Las Vegas and this city sees more than its fair share of women unjustly arrested for prostitution and other vague collatoral charges such as loitering or “manifesting an intent to engage in prostitution” etc. A substantial amount of these woman are just like Kamylla in the sense that they are immigrants and single mothers and resorted to prostitution out of desperation. The one notable distinction is they didnt appear on a TV show that was the subject of outrage by sexworkers around the world and they didnt have articles & features & writeups about them.
In Las Vegas alone: law enforcement arrests some 3,000 women a year for prostitution- related charges – this is an average of ten per day, give or take. Many of these woman also wouldve loved to have had the benefit of a fundraiser and a private attorney to fight unjust / inflated charges. But the fact that they werent famous and werent the subject of a reality TV show causes Cupcake Girls to kick them to the curb and tell the to avail themselves of the services of the public defender.
It is a fact that no single sexworker in Las Vegas – or anywhere else for that matter – has had a fundraiser held for them by Cupcake Girls, for prostitution charges or any other matter. In fact, those women who have pleaded for similar assistance were crudely dismissed and told to request a court-appointed attorney for their charges.
Cupcake Girls spent an inordinate amount of time, money and effort throwing themselves behind Kamylla while giving the boot and the cold shoulder to women in the very area in which they are based. In true mediawhore fashion: their CEO Joy Hoover posted appeals for money for Kamyllas fundraiser, which was being managed by Hoover, while local ladies in Vegas had to scramble to help themselves or depend on court-appointed legal counsel.
The dynamics of this situation are very, very suspicious and call for this organization to be scrutinized more closely. If the only way a woman can get help is by making the headlines, and then a organization jumps on her bandwagon at the expense of women in their own backyard, something is quite fishy.
In closing: the Cupcakes dont care about the real life pressing needs or issues faced by the sexworkers in the geographical region in which they have set up shop. They care only about drawing attention to themselves and its a fair assessment that they benefitted as much from the Kamylla fundraiser via publicity as Kamylla herself did from them.

Sophia says:
I sent a sex worker to the cupcake girls who had become homeless and they sent her to completely inappropriate resource, a domestic violence shelter. She was not experiencing DV- and these people get half a million dollars a year or more to help these people, but all they do is send people to random resources everyone in the community already knows about. They also asked her to give a testimonial before they ever did anything for her. I was so embarassed to have sent her.

Lost girl says:
Lacie…that is not OK…did you sign confidentiality agreements? Unless you WERE DYING, they had no right to violate your privacy. You said you were not offered any copies of the paperwork..For me, as a psychotherapist, clients have confidentiality even in death. A release can only be used to collaborate with probation/substance abuse treatment and then, ethically, only the dates of attendance can be shared. Cupcake creep Cristina Parriera (domestic violence drunk bully) tried to tell me one of their client consented to her video being released publicly by Cupcakes. That is not an appropriate use of a release and is very exploitive of the client. But then again, Ms. Parriera has NO BUSINESS BEING ANYWHERE NEAR clients she is so sick herself.
If they are acting in a victim advocate role, they are still bound by confidentiality. I would contact the ACLU, the Better Business Bureau, the regulatory board in Nevada and keep talking to other organizations.
Lacie says:
I’m from the Midwest & had never heard of the Cupcake Girls before. I started dancing at a club in Las Vegas and then turned to escorting due to excessive house fees. On my last day on the job at the club Cupcake Girls came in and handed out cupcakes and business cards. I called them after I ran into some housing difficulties. They asked me to come by their office and fill out a very lengthy form with so much personal information it was like filling out a credit check. The details they asked for werent even relevant in any way. I never got a copy of any of the documents even though I asked. Then at the conclusion of the “intake” appointment I was given a list of community resources, most all of which I had already called.
I was very disappointed. A few weeks later I was arrested in a undercover vice operation and requested assistance from them locating an attorney. They suggested I seek help from the Public Defender. After I posted a negative review on their Facebook page, they called all the emergency contact phone numbers on my form they had me fill out and told 3 different family members I had been arrested for prostitution. This is just pure evil. They did this to be vindictive and for no other reason 🙁
FOR YOUR SAKE STAY AWAY FROM THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce D says:
Cupcake Cunts retaliated against my sister when she posted a review about them on Facebook. She went to them for help because she dances at a club and got super-sick for a few weeks and couldn’t work and had no benefits. She went by their office and was made to fill out a form with all her info. They then gave her a “referral” to the state welfare office ! NICE WORK ! Why was it necessary to get her personal stats including social security number just for this ? Then she makes a review on facebook, which they promptly deleted and proceeded to post her full, legal name. OK that was wrong on so many levels. I encouraged my sis to dry her tears and we worked together with some of this organizations other victims to create a website [Rate That Rescue edit: external link removed, abusive]
We are also alerting everyone we know. Cupcake Girls will surely get their just “desserts”. Joy Hoover is a scamster and a con artist.

Please see my response about the Cupcakes on the Portland review.
