I have had the unfortunate experience of listening by remote, to Kathryn’s style of rehabilitation which is offense at best. I have never heard of this clinical technique but then again, Kathryn does not have any college degrees or licenses that allow for her to work therapeutically with clients.

You do not degrade clients. You do not call them names or make fun of them as sex workers. You do not mock living in poverty then walk in in designer clothes, shoes and handbags. You do not make offers of assistance then have none. You do not promise money, jobs or resources then make clients volunteer as part of their compliance. If people want people to get through conditions then they should be offered employment with a great wage, benefits (because they will lose their Medicaid when they make over a certain amount), education support and case management.

As a former sex worker, I would never allow anyone to talk to me in the manner that Kathryn talks to other women. She is still a pimp who is abusive to others.

  2. Doris says:

Kathryn Griffin is the CEO and she is abusive and hostile towards the women in the jail program. She forces everyone to volunteer for political campaigns that fund her program. She makes promises that she doesn’t come through for and she threatens the women in her prostitution diversion program with going back to jail. She was a part of 8 MInutes.

Kathryn Griffin apparently wants to be famous. She had a taste of celebrity working with the Rick James tour, and now she’s doing the ‘rescue industry tour’ so to speak.

She has appeared on the Dr. Drew show and the Steve Wilkos Show (which is nothing more than a Jerry Springer knock off) and she constantly creates opportunities to be highlighted in the Houston media for her work with arrested sex workers, and often at the arrested sex workers expense.

You will find numerous articles about Kathryn and her program where photos show the identities of the women involved. Not only could this prove to be dangerous for some of the women, it is an unethical practice in such a context any way you look at it.

By sharing photos which expose the identities of those who are court ordered while being prosecuted for prostitution- this puts the women in a situation where they could be extorted via threat to be further exposed, harassed and even sexually harassed. Exposing the identities of the women in her program is a danger to the women and in a variety of ways.
Kathryn even has them wearing t-shirts at public events with media present, T-shirts which they themselves paid for, they are walking billboards advertising that they are participants in a prostitution ‘rehab’ program. This in and of itself is a form of exploitation!
Other than protecting the identities of the people in her program, The LEAST she could have done is GIVE the T-shirts rather than charge for them!

Kathryn Griffin Grinan is married to a Houston news anchor which no doubt has been helpful in promoting her agenda and her reputation. Kathryn’s good friend is recently retired Sheriff Adrian Garcia who is now running for Mayor in Houston.
Many of the current participants in her program were likely arrested and or incarcerated under Garcia before he chose to retire as Sheriff to run for Mayor. Regardless, Kathryn Griffin has been using the women in her tax payer funded program ‘we’ve been there done that’ to help Adrian Garcia’s political campaign. This became evident observing Facebook profiles connected to Kathryn Griffin and her program.

One of the women who was arrested for prostitution and who subsequently entered the program has since become Kathryn’s right hand, a woman named Matilda Perez. Both the Kathryn Griffin Grinan and Matilda Perez Facebook accounts are filled with photos showing the ‘we’ve been there done that’ participants campaigning for Adrian Garcia:

    I did not understand them

    Promised but not received

  3. Kamylla ( User Karma: 4 ) says:

The CEO Kathryn Griffin was pointed to me by the Show 8 minutes. They fail in their promises. So, she was connected with them. And she came to me because the show not only denied any “help” after the interview and all the lies we already know.
But they also, denied to help me with a down payment for a lawyer I picked up.

The lawyer she introduced me for free was a good friend of her, they scratch each other’s back
She gives him free work and he sent his clients for her program so they get released from jail.
There is not a real deep look into the person, it’s done like “life in a factory” .
The lawyer jumped in my case right there 2 min before the Court start.
    He reset the date.
Told me he was going to work on the case.
One month and a half later, he never called me to talk about my case… I called him.a
We talked. 5 days later was Court date again. He didn’t know nothing about me and my case. He told me no matter what he didn’t want to hurt Kathryn in the show situation but he was going to help me.
He reset AGAIN the date. Gave some excuse.
He did nothing put myself in a horrible situation.
He told me to go to her program in the first time we met.
    I went.
I believed she was worthy as a person.
As the media and SW community started to put the Show and all of the damage that it did into the spotlight… She started to yell at me. She threatened me more than once to abandon my case and that she wouldn’t get me a lawyer.
    She was horrible.
The most fake destructive person I ever met. Her intervention fits nobody. She offends too much.
I was there almost 3 months. She promised help with a job… Job was 50 miles away.
I couldn’t afford to go back and forth to her own program and I had to. So other dates she order people to be there for her
Workshop and conferences inside of Churches. Every week there was something to do.
Job she offered, was in a bar..
    The bar was broke.
They wanted me to take care of the bar…
Made appointments to discuss my case and the things I needed that they promised. She would set the appointments at 10/11 at night!!! And canceled twice at the last minute.
When I finally suppose to meet this people my home got flooded. I could not go that night
After. I suffered so much humiliation inside of the group therapy isn’t funny
They made me “a lazy” person.
Use to take me out of the group, where plenty other women were and authorities to saying things like “Go to this office your job us there, your housing solution too”.
When in this office I heard from Social Worker I had done everything I could and there was no resources really.
But all that public believed I found my job.
Next week… Her public changes all time but there are some who doesn’t leave her side.
They are very poor and humble people.
    Most of them homeless.

I realize it was not worthy. And lot of humiliation was done to me because of that..
People in the program are often told to “shut up” about things
Her opinion is important.. nobody else. She offered job to a family member. They don’t care if you have gas money to go or clothes they tell GO!
    All fake jobs
You do not find the person of feel ashamed after calling plenty of times.

THE DAY THE SHOW Shut Down she threatened me with many other things…
And while there she was always saying how helpful they are.

She forces all the girls and program members to go and work for free for a politician who made her program happen.

She offended and oppressed me for almost 3 months.

That program may be good for addiction but not not for SW.
Even addiction, I saw more than one person waiting for her help that never came…
Last time I was there she told if someone goes back to jail she will work for the person stay there forever.
    Well… I have a great lawyer now.
He told me to quit her program. And never come back.
The old lawyer is her friend.. he forced me to attempt her program having no way to go there.
    All this time was lost.

They could control my actions against the show and she earns grants for every one she kicks in.

Program name should be ” Pimping the Poverty”
